Course Overview

Lighting is the glue that brings everything together in video games.

  • Lighting Theory

    you will learn a theoretical breakdown on Lighting for Games. We will breakdown how and why lighting is approached the way it is for games, as well as looking at movies and why they are such an important reference point for video games.

  • Environment Lighting Practical

    We will put into practice what we learned in theory by using unreal engine to light environments. These techniques will apply to any contemporary pipeline. The course will guide students through understanding advanced lighting settings in UE4. (Coming Soon)

  • How to Light and Present Portfolio Pieces

    you will learn the nuances of lighting and presenting a portfolio piece for maximum appeal. You will learn how the combination of your decisions will affect the final output. (Coming Soon)

Requirements

  • Students should be familiar with the Unreal Engine 4 and Marmoset Toolbag interface.

  • SKILLS LEVEL: Beginner/ Intermediate

  • You may use your own assets during this course or create similar scenes using default Unreal marketplace assets
